Christopher “Chris” R. Covey, 65, of Holualoa and Santa Monica, Calif., died May 14 at his Holualoa home. Born in Los Angeles, he was a professional architectural photographer. Celebration of Life and scattering of ashes will be held June 30, 2012 at Morro Bay in California. Survived by companion, Hope Harbour of Holualoa; three cousins, four hanai grandchildren. Carl John Rotert Jr., 57, of Kailua-Kona died May 27 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Dallas, he was a U.S. Army veteran and property manager, and attended the Door Christian Center. Yoshiko Shimazu, 78, of Hilo, died June 1 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she retired as a house cleaner. Private services.
